This, dear God Castle, THIS. Where has this episode been all my life? I really genuinely liked this one for reasons beyond blatant sexual references (ahem, Cuffed). And, it brings a tear to my eye. Oh show. Oh show. I don’t know if I can be coherent about this one. It was just…I’m reeling, in the best possible way. This is the punch in the face I’ve been waiting for all season.

Although, to be fair to Castle. Her life is at stake. He was specifically told that if Beckett investigates again she gets sent to the big fluffy cloud in the sky. It’s not like he is trying to protect her from making a bad sandwich choice.
No, I completely agree with you. Like I said, I really think it makes sense for the character, completely, it would be almost be completely weird if he didn’t try to protect her like that and I would never hold it against him (even if he was a real person … I know, sometimes I get sad that they’re not real too.) Zoomed in on their characters and their world, it’s not problematic at all.
But just how far you can divest specific context from cultural context is debatable and I thought it was this interesting and subtle reflection on attitudes and beliefs that still inform our culture - just neatly wrapped up in a Castle flavoured bow.
